Nutrition

WIC families work with our experienced Program Nutritionists, Public Health Nutritionists, and Registered Dietitian Nutritionists to create individualized nutrition education plans based on identified needs, interests, and resources. WIC Nutritionists also provide iron, lead, and immunization education as well as CDC tracking tools.

WIC Peer Counselors provide breastfeeding education, support, and resources to all of our WIC families. Our clinics are also staffed with International Board Certified Lactation Consultants (IBCLC) available to provide free breastfeeding consultations and follow up.

Food benefits are conveniently loaded onto an e-WIC card allowing families to purchase WIC approved fresh fruits and vegetables, whole grains, dairy products, baby foods and much more at no cost!

Ocean County WIC is piloting a program that screens WIC participants for developmental milestones at key ages. This project correlates with the CDC’s Milestones Matter and “Learn The Signs. Act Early.” efforts. All WIC eligible families will receive emails that assist families with monitoring their children’s development from 2 months through 5 years of age and support them with timely referrals when developmental concerns are identified.
