Dogs can die from heatstroke in minutes if left in a hot car, even with the windows open. Here are some tips to keep your dog safe in hot weather:

Consider the journey:
Before taking your dog on a trip, think about whether it’s necessary.
Provide space:
Make sure your dog has enough room and isn’t sitting in direct sunlight. You can use sun shades on your windows, even if your car is air-conditioned.
Take breaks:
Plan to stop often and provide plenty of water for your dog to drink. You can use a Thermos with ice cubes to keep the water cool.
Keep your dog cool
If possible, drive with the air conditioning on. You can also try placing your dog in front of an electric fan.
Watch for signs of heatstroke:
If your dog is showing signs of heatstroke, such as excessive panting, collapse, dribbling, or an increased heart rate, you should immediately remove them from the car and contact a vet. You can try soaking their coat with cool water or placing them in a tub of cool water for up to two minutes to gradually lower their body temperature. If you can’t transport your dog yourself, you can try taking them into an air-conditioned building and calling animal control.
Secure your dog:
Make sure your dog is secure in their cage or tethered to a seatbelt clip or cargo point.
